My name is Amanda and I
am currently a student at Eastern Washington University in the class ENGL 493. I am a post-baccalaureate with a BA in
English Literature from Gonzaga University.
My dream is to become a Secondary English Teacher, preferably 6th,
7th, or 8th grade.
I have some experience with coaching cheerleading at my old high school
for three years. Hopefully, within the
next week or so I will be placed in order to further gain an understanding of
what it is I am going into as far as becoming a teacher. One of my strengths is that I connect well
with kids and I am extremely passionate about my subject. A weakness that I have is getting overly
excited about my subject to the point, where I move too quickly and have to
explain more thoroughly. This course
will help me in discovering alternative texts to use in the classroom, as well
as assist me in understanding what it takes to be a successful teacher of
English. My goal is to be able to plan a
successful and effective lesson plan for future classes and to comprehend new
strategies and formats for unit plans.
My hope is that by the end of this course I will be more confident when entering
the classroom, once I am placed!
